Aston Villa closed a deal to sign West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The right-back from the Democratic Republic of Congo will join on an initial loan with a mandatory purchase obligation at the end of the season.
Wan-Bissaka was granted permission to travel to the Midlands and undergo a medical examination, although the exact terms of the agreement are unknown. West Ham had previously requested that interested clubs pay a fee of 25 million pounds.
The 28-year-old missed West Ham's first two Championship matches of the season whilst the transfer terms were being negotiated to keep him at Premier League level.
West Ham sold Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham for 85 million pounds and Crysencio Summerville for 60 million this summer, although captain Jarrod Bowen signed a new contract. Meanwhile, Aston Villa had a busy transfer window, highlighted by the sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for 117 million pounds. The club currently records the lowest net spending in the Premier League, approximately 110 million pounds after deducting sales.
Villa signed midfielders Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes, in addition to Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho on loan with a mandatory purchase obligation, and brought in young centre-back Modou Keba Cisse. Aston Villa begin their Premier League campaign at Brighton on Sunday at 14:00 GMT and will also compete in the Champions League after finishing fourth and winning the Europa League last season under Unai Emery.
