David Rush, who holds over 200 concurrent Guinness World Records titles, recruited 10 work colleagues and John Rotellini, a mentalist from Las Vegas, to attempt the record for the fastest speed at folding 12 T-shirts in a relay team of 12 people. The attempt took place during a corporate team-building trip to Las Vegas.

The previous record was two minutes and 24 seconds. Rush indicated that to beat it required "fast hands and clean execution, because careless folding, an early step or a wrong touch could void entire runs".

The team required 10 attempts to finish with a time of 2 minutes and 19.65 seconds. Rush described the first attempts as "a clinic in how not to execute a relay", noting that they faced disqualifications after disqualifications due to wrinkled creases that did not meet Guinness's strict standards, colleagues advancing too soon in their enthusiasm, and technical violations that invalidated the runs despite the speed achieved.
