President Abelardo De La Espriella presented a plan of housing measures and economic relief in response to the earthquake that devastated the country on 10 August. Among the announcements are rental subsidies and reductions in public services for those affected.

The municipality of Versalles in the north of Valle del Cauca was one of the zones most impacted by the seismic movement. Authorities indicated that the measures seek to mitigate the economic impact on those affected and facilitate their recovery.

The plan, called "Vivienda Milagro", complements other emergency response initiatives. Government officials stated that the actions include both direct rental support and benefits in the payment of basic services for affected families.
