National deputy Natalia de la Sota called President Javier Milei "insensitive" after learning of national government moves to eliminate gas tariff discounts under the Cold Zone regime. De la Sota warned that the measure would be a direct blow to nearly 700,000 households in Córdoba in a context where working-family incomes are losing purchasing power in the face of inflation and successive tariff increases.
For the Córdoba legislator, the possible removal of the tariff benefit "will deepen the crisis of middle-class and working sectors". De la Sota also questioned the negotiations of the national Cabinet chief to secure legislative support aimed at advancing the elimination of the regime in the interior of the country. According to the deputy, this initiative adds to a series of measures promoted by the government that, in her view, are systematically damaging to the interests of Cordobans.
"Once again, Milei's policies are hitting Córdoba and Cordobans. I reject the Government's attempt to continue raising the gas bill for thousands of working families, whose incomes are already losing purchasing power," the deputy said through social media. De la Sota interpreted a photograph of Minister Luis Caputo and Cabinet Chief Diego Santilli with northern governors as a quid pro quo that harms the province.
As it emerged, the northern governors promised their votes to remove the cold zone subsidy for 3.2 million natural gas users in exchange for obtaining more electricity subsidies in hot zones. The meeting was attended by the governors of Catamarca, Raúl Alejandro Jalil; Salta, Gustavo Sáenz; Chaco, Leandro Sdero; and Jujuy, Leandro César Zdero. Caputo stated on his X account that they reached consensus on "a proposal to redefine energy subsidies in hot and very hot zones, a long-standing demand from the provinces".
