The removal of building debris affected by an earthquake on 24 June has created a critical situation in the state of La Guaira. Trucks have deposited tonnes of rubble in the Los Corales sector, at the height of Avenida Principal in Caraballeda.
The accumulation of material has raised alarm among residents and environmental groups. The state has promised to launch a recycling programme to manage the waste resulting from the seismic event.
