Dinorah Figuera, head of the opposition delegation in talks with the government, called on 16 August for clarity on figures for recent prisoner releases in Venezuela. The request comes in the face of a discrepancy between the numbers released by the administration and those confirmed by specialist organisations.
The administration of Delcy Rodríguez announced 131 prisoner releases last Friday. However, organisations such as Foro Penal have been able to confirm only 78 of those cases.
Figuera stressed the urgency of obtaining clarity on the figures for releases.
