Sources indicated that the session bringing together Kushner with Hamas and mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey was marked by a positive atmosphere, in which the movement emphasised its adherence to the signed agreement, including provisions related to armaments. Jared Kushner expressed his gratitude to Hamas for its position, but asked it to maintain its commitment despite what he described as "Israeli violations".
The US envoy urged Hamas to carry out comprehensive disarmament and to end any future role of the movement in the administration of Gaza. Kushner and his team are scheduled to travel to Israel to demand that the Israeli side comply with the agreement as part of Washington's efforts to maintain the stability of the ceasefire and ensure the implementation of all terms of the understanding between the parties.
The peace plan presented by the United States seeks to end the conflict and reorganise the situation in the Gaza Strip. The plan's 15 points include the disarmament of the territory, Israeli withdrawal and the transfer of administration to a government of technocrats to end Hamas rule. Washington offers guarantees through a "peace council" established under the support and sponsorship of President Donald Trump, which include the deployment of an international force and Palestinian police in exchange for a complete Israeli withdrawal.
However, the main obstacle so far lies in the stated rejection of the plan by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu has said that Hamas does not accept complete and genuine dismantling of its armaments, while Hamas speaks of "storing" the weapons rather than handing them over and permanently destroying them.
