Nigel Havers, 74, said his greatest disappointment in a long career has been failing to land the role of James Bond. The British actor was nominated for a Bafta in 1981 for his performance in Chariots of Fire and has since appeared in films including A Passage to India and Empire of the Sun.
Havers has maintained a steady presence in television and theatre. His television credits include Don't Wait Up, The Charmer, Coronation Street, The Gentlemen and, most recently, Golden Boys. He has also starred in West End productions and pantomime, and is currently touring with his show, Talking B*ll*cks.
Born in London, Havers is married with a daughter and continues to live in the capital.
