Heavy rainfall between Saturday and Sunday in Caracas left three women dead, flooding and people homeless, according to civil protection authorities.

Three women died as a result of disasters caused by intense rainfall that occurred between the night of Saturday, 15 August and the early morning of Sunday, 16 in Caracas, reported General Pablo Antonio Palacios, commander of the Caracas Fire Department. The rainfall was accompanied by lightning and wind gusts.

The downpours caused flooding in several areas of the Venezuelan capital and left affected families exposed to the elements, according to information provided by civil protection authorities.
