Insomniac Games is developing Marvel's Wolverine, marking the character's first starring role in a video game since licensed film tie-ins in the 2000s. The Sony-owned studio is taking a comparable narrative approach to the one used in its acclaimed Spider-Man games, drawing from multiple source materials and constructing an original continuity.

The Spider-Man games have proven influential beyond the gaming medium. Actor Tom Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton cited them as inspiration for the 2024 film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the studio noted.

The Wolverine game introduces the character in a disheveled state before a mysterious figure with a cultured voice, portrayed by actor Troy Baker, offers him sanctuary for "people like us." The narrative structure echoes the reimagining approach that defined Insomniac's Spider-Man entries, though the more brutal nature of Wolverine as a character may require adjustments to the established formula.
