Caracas.— Eider Hernández, brother of political prisoner Roland González, approached the Ombudsman's office to request that his relative be transferred to a private clinical facility and receive urgent medical care. The relative made the request on Tuesday, 18 August, days after González suffered an apparent heart attack while held at El Rodeo I.
According to Hernández's account, González requires a catheterisation procedure and specialist care that only a private centre could provide. The approach to the Ombudsman's office sought to ensure that authorisation was granted for the transfer of the detainee to a medical facility with better resources.
