Stephen Libby has called for men to move beyond traditional dark suits when attending weddings, arguing that guests should dress for celebration rather than mourning. The television personality said men are "stuck in the dark ages" when it comes to wedding attire, with grey, navy and black suits dominating the dress code.
Libby noted that women have access to a wide range of options for wedding guest outfits, but men continue to face limited choices. He said many men wear suits to weddings that are indistinguishable from funeral attire, sending the wrong message at an event meant to celebrate love.
Libby suggested that weddings offered an opportunity to experiment with colour and unconventional pieces, such as mismatched jackets and trousers or accessorising with a man bag. He said he had long avoided enjoying weddings because he felt pressured to conform to a style that did not reflect his personal taste.
