Two pro-democracy activists convicted of subversion in Hong Kong

Hong Kong's High Court convicted Lee Cheuk-yan and Chow Hang-tung of subversion on Friday, 21 August. The two former organisers of annual vigils in memory of the 1989 Tiananmen crackdown face a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.

Three government-appointed judges found the accused guilty of inciting the overthrow of China's communist leadership, according to the court's ruling.
