Carmen Meléndez, mayor of Caracas, reported a special activation of brigades at critical points in the capital. She indicated on her X account that authorities were monitoring each parish in real time for the clearing of roads, attention to vegetation and waterways, remaining alert to reports for immediate response to incidents.
Local media reported several overflows, including the Valle River in southwest Caracas, which flooded sectors of one of the main highways, leaving an indeterminate number of vehicles trapped. The previous week, the commander general of the fire department, Pablo Antonio Palacios, reported that two girls had died in the La Vega parish after being swept away by a current during intense rainfall.
Firefighters determined the preventive evacuation of 12 families after assessing three homes on sloped terrain in the La Pastora parish, in northern Caracas. Opposition deputy Henrique Capriles expressed concern over what he called a lack of maintenance, stating that "each emergency shows the ruin of our beloved country".
