Egypt's National Railway Authority held an awareness session for employees in the Upper Egypt central region in Sohag province, in compliance with directives from the Transport Minister, engineer Kamel El-Wazir, regarding attention to human capital and increasing workplace and community awareness. The session addressed ways to strengthen operational safety, improve performance efficiency, preserve the authority's assets and resources, and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens, with the presence of authority and central region leaders, and the head of the general union of railway and metro employees.
The activities focused on raising awareness of workplace safety procedures and reducing individual errors. Officials stressed that compliance with operational standards is a fundamental responsibility that ensures the safety of passengers and employees as well as the regularity of train service. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of employees' role in maximizing resources, rationalizing consumption, preserving equipment and facilities, and maintaining appropriate maintenance and waste management procedures, in order to protect the substantial investments made to develop this essential service.
The session addressed the importance of improving treatment of citizens, listening to their requests and inquiries with professionalism and mutual respect, while respecting legal frameworks to protect the authority's rights. Attendees recognised that employees are the authority's direct face and the fundamental pillar for achieving citizen satisfaction with the level of service.
Participants discussed the dangers of drugs and their negative impact on individuals and the workplace environment, as well as legal and therapeutic approaches to handling medications. The session also emphasised the importance of social responsibility and confidentiality in countering rumours and false information on social media that target the state and national institutions.
The session concluded with open dialogue with employees to hear their demands and suggestions, respond to their inquiries in accordance with applicable regulations, and recognise several outstanding employees in Upper Egypt's central region operations for their performance and discipline. According to the authority, this session is part of its commitment to strengthen direct communication with employees and consolidate safety values to improve the efficiency of railway service.
