Boxer Imane Khelif will not participate in the 2026 Taranto Mediterranean Games. The Algerian Olympic champion revealed on Thursday the reasons for this absence that surprised many.

Her name appeared on the list of the Algerian sports delegation, but she will ultimately not compete. Khelif said she was surprised to see her name included in the delegation, stating that she did not receive any official invitation to participate in the Games.
