US actor Johnny Depp is in talks to participate in the sixth film of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, according to Deadline magazine.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer said: "We are in conversations with Johnny Depp, we are working on the script and we hope we can make it happen".
However, sources from the magazine indicated that the Captain Jack Sparrow character, played by Depp, could have a supporting role in the new instalment rather than being the main character.
The latest film in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge, was released in 2017 and grossed approximately 794 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
