The Beatles have returned to Abbey Road as Sam Mendes creates a chapter in music history with his upcoming four-part biopic. Over the weekend, a drone video circulated on social media filmed from above The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event set, where the director recreated the Abbey Road album (1969) cover at the now-iconic zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios in London.
In the clip, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Barry Keoghan and Harris Dickinson can be seen crossing the street multiple times during production. According to Deadline last week, the production was headed to Abbey Road for a scene that "involves approximately 80 extras and some vintage vehicles".
Last February, Deadline exclusively revealed that Mendes will direct each instalment of The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event, through his Neal Street Productions company and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Each film will be interconnected and will tell the band's story from the perspective of each member.
The cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon.
