Ediciones Era announced yesterday its permanent closure due to economic inviability of its operations. In a statement addressed to customers and friends, the publishing house indicated that "after 66 years of publishing the first book of Ediciones Era, we find ourselves forced to acknowledge that the book market has changed so much that it does not allow us to live off the sales of our books".

The publisher attributed the closure to the collapse of the distribution infrastructure that sustained its operations. According to the statement, "the network of bookstores that existed before the pandemic and that guaranteed our subsistence disappeared, to the point that sales plummeted to being barely 25 per cent of what they were before".
