Elderly people affected by the twin earthquakes are surviving in shelters and with insufficient pensions nearly two months after the tremors devastated La Guaira. The victims lack homes of their own and are facing a critical economic situation with pensions of 130 bolívares.

The elderly have demanded that the Government extend financial aid and guarantee dignified housing for their remaining years. Given the precarious conditions they face, disaster victims of advanced age fear they will lose support as time passes since the earthquakes.
