Espanyol opened the 2026-27 tournament with a commanding victory, defeating Levante 3-0 at the RCDE Stadium in front of 28,050 spectators. Roberto Fernández scored twice in the first half and Dolan added the third in the 80th minute.

The Catalan side were vastly superior from the start. Roberto Fernández opened the scoring in the 4th minute following a free kick taken by Edu Expósito. The forward struck again in the 40th minute after receiving an assist from Javi Hernández to make it 2-0.

Levante found no offensive resources during the match. Levante coach Luís Castro gave a debut to footballer Marc Santos in the 64th minute. At 15 years old, Santos became the youngest player to debut in Primera División with the Valencia-based club.

Dolan sealed the result in the 80th minute after capitalising on a counterattack. The assist was provided by Rafa Bauza. Espanyol controlled the course of the match without difficulty against a rival that created no danger in the opposing area.

Referee Muñiz Muñoz cautioned Urko González, Cala and Javi Hernández of Espanyol. The match corresponded to the first matchday of LaLiga EA Sports.
