Campaigners have warned that Heathrow airport's planned expansion could threaten the survival of the New Barn at Harmondsworth, a 600-year-old timber-framed structure. The barn, considered a remarkable example of medieval architecture and England's largest surviving structure of its kind, could be "shaken to pieces" by aircraft vibrations, the campaigners said.
The public has until 1 September to submit objections to the expansion plans. The New Barn's architectural significance makes the potential threat a point of concern for heritage preservation groups.
