Mónica Cruz, at 49 years old, maintains a routine marked by consistency that does not necessarily imply rigidity. The Spanish actress, dancer and designer practises a diet that prioritises proteins and training in which strength occupies a central place, as she explained in an interview with Woman magazine.

Cruz is a proponent of intermittent fasting. She wakes up at 7 in the morning and consumes one or two Americano coffees, while her first solid meal comes around midday, although the timing varies depending on the day. "I like to do intermittent fasting. I wake up at 7 in the morning and have one or two Americano coffees, and then later, around midday, I have some protein bread toast with egg, ham or avocado," she said.

The actress follows a diet where she consumes more protein than carbohydrates. She explained that this choice does not respond solely to weight issues, but allows her to feel better and with more energy. She consumes carbohydrates, but in smaller quantities, preferring vegetables over rice or cereals. "Some days I skip it and nothing happens, I enjoy it," she clarified about the exceptions to her diet.

Exercise forms another important part of her routine. Cruz has practised ballet since she was four years old, although she acknowledged that her professional commitments prevent her from attending classes as frequently. She also practises bikram yoga, a modality carried out in a temperature-controlled room and which she does sessions of around 90 minutes. However, strength training is her priority: she does a minimum of three weekly sessions of weights and squats for 30 to 40 minutes, regardless of whether she can practise other disciplines.

That dedication to strength training is especially relevant at this stage of life, when maintaining muscle mass and caring for bones and joints become more important, she points out. According to Cruz, regularity is the key that underpins her strategy to stay active and healthy.
