Pavlidis scores hat-trick as Benfica thrash Casa Pia 7-0

Benfica demolished Casa Pia 7-0 in the second round of the Primeira Liga, with Pavlidis scoring three goals.

Benfica defeated Casa Pia 7-0 on Monday in the second round of the Primeira Liga. Argentine winger Gianluca Prestianni, Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis with a hat-trick and Colombian forward Jhon Durán were among the goalscorers.

Prestianni opened the scoring in the third minute with a shot from outside the area that was deflected by a Casa Pia defender. Rafa Silva extended the lead to 14 minutes with a chip following a pass from Pavlidis.

Pavlidis dominated the second half. He scored the third goal at 47 minutes in combination with Rafa Silva, added a second goal at 49 after dribbling past three defenders, and completed the hat-trick at 54 with a shot from the centre of the area.

Ghanaian defender Lawrence Ofori scored an own goal at 58 minutes for Benfica's sixth goal. Durán sealed the rout at 61 with a powerful strike, his first goal in the Primeira Liga.
