Trabzonspor has reached an agreement with Uruguayan striker Darwin Nünez regarding the terms of his transfer from Al-Hilal, according to Turkish website "61 sát" reported on Sunday. However, the resolution of payments owed to Nünez by the Saudi club, estimated at approximately €12 million, remains the final obstacle to completing the transfer.
Nünez earns an annual salary of around €20 million, and taxes related to his outstanding payments have complicated negotiations, though sources indicated the deal could be sealed at any moment. The 27-year-old striker arrived at Al-Hilal in summer 2025 from Liverpool, the club with which he signed a contract until 2028 after the English side paid approximately €53 million.
Reports on Saturday suggested the operation could take place as a loan, though the latest developments on Sunday indicated that the financial dispute has become the main reason for the delay. Turkish journalist Yagiz Saboncu Oğlu revealed on Friday that Trabzonspor had reached an agreement with Nünez, while negotiations with Al-Hilal continued.
During his career, Nünez has played 306 matches and scored 117 goals. At Liverpool he scored 40 goals in 143 matches and was champion of the Premier League, the League Cup and the Community Shield. With Al-Hilal he registered 9 goals in 24 matches, including 6 goals in 16 matches of last season's Saudi league campaign. At international level, the striker has scored 13 goals in 41 matches with Uruguay and participated in the 2022 and 2026 World Cups, as well as Copa América 2024.
