Steven Yeun is returning to Netflix to star in his next lead role in a television series. The Emmy Award winner for "Beef" and Oscar nominee for "Minari" will head a series titled "Pagans" created by Joshua Zetumer, producer of the FX series "Say Nothing". Yeun will also serve as an executive producer on the series.
Netflix won a bidding war with multiple platforms for "Pagans" last year with a straight-to-series production order. The supernatural drama began as a speculative script by Zetumer, whose writing credits also include the feature films "Patriots Day" and 2014's "RoboCop".
According to the series description, "Pagans follows Gus (Yeun), who becomes the sole caregiver for his two children following the tragic loss of his wife. While his son is typical, his daughter Alice is anything but. What begins as a tense father-daughter relationship soon evolves into something far more sinister. Pagans is a show that is equally emotional, terrifying and funny, and that unearths all our darkest thoughts about family".
Zetumer, an Emmy nominee and Writers Guild Award nominee for "Say Nothing", will serve as showrunner. He is executive producer alongside Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, Jonathan van Tulleken, Erica Kay, and Yeun and Christina Oh of Celadon Pictures.
Yeun will soon appear in the Netflix feature film "Animals", alongside Ben Affleck, who also directs, Kerry Washington and Gillian Anderson. He also acted with Affleck and Matt Damon in "The Rip" earlier this year. He voices the lead character in the Prime Video animated series "Invincible". His other credits include "The Walking Dead", "Nope" and "Mickey 17". Yeun is represented by CAA and Hansen Jacobson.
