Low-cost plug-in solar panels will go on sale in Great Britain from August 27 following a rule change that allows consumers to install the systems themselves.
Rooftop solar installations have historically been unavailable to flat-dwellers and renters, while the cost has made them inaccessible to many other households. The new "balcony" systems are designed to address these barriers.
The first wave of the affordable panels will hit the market next week under the relaxed regulations.
