Extraction 3, the latest instalment in Netflix's action franchise starring Chris Hemsworth, has completed its cast with five new additions: Pierce Brosnan, two-time Golden Globe nominee (MobLand); Don Lee (Train to Busan); Joe Taslim (The Furious); Chi Lewis-Perry (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple) and Siena Agudong (the upcoming Carrie series on Amazon).
Lee joined the project after reaching an agreement to star in Tygo, an entry in the franchise in the Korean language centred on his character of a former child soldier turned mercenary, which is in post-production.
The plot of Extraction 3 remains under wraps, as do the roles of the other new cast members. The film is currently shooting in Australia, with Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani as co-stars alongside Hemsworth.
Coming from AGBO of the Russo Brothers and Hemsworth's Wild State, the Extraction films are based on the graphic novel by Ande Parks and illustrated by Fernando León González. They follow Tyler Rake, Hemsworth's Australian mercenary who undertakes high-risk rescue missions around the world.
Sam Hargrave, who directed the first two films, both of which landed spots on Netflix's list of most popular films, returns to direct, working from a script by David Weil, based on a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo.
