President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) for approving the reinstatement of payment, charged to the institution's budget, of private medical insurance for 300 middle and senior managers.

Sheinbaum suggested that something unusual occurs when judges enter the seat of the country's highest court, located at Pino Suárez number 2, in the Historic Centre of the capital since 1941. According to the president, judges "transform" once in the building, which "must be haunted by the spirits of the past".

The president urged members of the SCJN to act with humility and refrain from restoring what she described as undue privileges.
