Syria's civil defence reported three civilians dead and six wounded, including minors, in an explosion that occurred in a house in the village of Ain al-Qassab, near the city of Jisr al-Shugur in the province of western Idleb.
According to initial information, the explosion was caused by explosive materials used for fishing that were inside the house. The director of the operations centre in Jisr al-Shugur, Ali al-Liri, told the Syrian news agency that civil defence teams remained at the site after responding immediately to the explosion.
The medical director of Jisr al-Shugur surgical hospital, Dr Mustafá Bagur, said the hospital received victims from the explosion site, including a 35-year-old man who died. A total of six wounded were also treated: a 45-year-old woman, a young man with shrapnel wounds, three minors—two transferred to the neurosurgery section at the surgical hospital in the city of Idleb and one to the trauma section—and a man around 50 years old with chest contusions undergoing hospital treatment.
The medical director said there was another fatality, a young man, who was not taken to the hospital. Search and rescue operations were carried out alongside medical care for the wounded.
