Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez married on Tuesday 11 August in a private ceremony held at their residence in Cascais, Portugal, exactly ten years after their first meeting at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Georgina worked as a shop assistant. The couple kept the details secret until Vogue published the first images of the event on Sunday.

Attendance was limited to the couple's five children: Cristiano Ronaldo Junior, twins Eva and Mateo, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda. The only four witnesses were Miguel Paixão, Ronaldo's friend from his time at Sporting; Ivana Rodríguez, Georgina's sister; and the couple Jose Rodríguez Sangil and Monica Gonzalez Martinez. The couple married under a regime of separation of assets.

Although the ceremony was civil, Ronaldo, Georgina and their children attended a mass to bless the union, as shown in Vogue's photographs. The footballer wore a light suit and white shirt without buttons or tie, while Georgina wore a white skirt and jacket ensemble with a white shirt. The images, signed by photographer Juergen Teller, also include sessions of Georgina wearing Chopard jewellery, by the pool and exercising at home.

In a text accompanying the photographs, Georgina explained her vision of the wedding to Vogue: "When I was little, I dreamed of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds. Now I say: no. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home". The American magazine published the images on its website on Sunday and will appear as the cover of its summer digital edition, with plans to include it in its next September print edition as well.
