On the Greek island of Salamina, near Athens, firefighters found two bodies while continuing efforts to extinguish the fire rapidly spreading in the area.
In eastern Belgium, around 600 residents near the Hohes Venn nature reserve were evacuated due to a fire that has consumed 3,000 hectares. Authorities indicated this is the worst forest fire in the country in more than a century.
Other fire sites continue to be active in Germany, France, United Kingdom and Spain.
