Barcelona have agreed the arrival of Spain captain Rodri from Manchester City for approximately £65 million. The 30-year-old midfielder, winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or, will sign a four-year contract with the Spanish champions.
The transfer is expected to be completed in the coming days. Rodri made 298 appearances during seven trophy-laden seasons at City after joining the club from Atlético Madrid in 2019 for a then-record fee of £62.8 million.
The player missed much of the 2024-25 campaign following a serious knee injury, and parts of the previous season were affected by a hamstring problem. However, he returned to his best level at the summer World Cup, leading Spain to their second title and being named the tournament's best player.
Rodri departs City having won 12 major trophies, including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League in 2022-23.
