Dr Hossam Salah Mourad, dean of the Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the board of directors of Cairo University hospitals, announced the organisation of the faculty's annual conference under the title "Emergency and Disaster Medicine in a Changing World". The event will have the sponsorship of Dr Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadeq, rector of Cairo University.

Dr Mourad highlighted that the conference reflects the Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine's commitment to staying current with advances in emergency and disaster medicine, as well as to strengthening the preparation of medical staff to manage various urgent cases, crises and disasters. He explained that the event seeks to improve the quality of medical care for patients and the injured, and to promote the exchange of experiences among specialists.

The dean noted that the conference will address key topics such as the latest methods for preparation and response to large-scale disasters, care for injuries and critical cases, and the development of emergency and medical care systems during crises. The programme will also include a review of the most current medical practices and technologies in this field.

The formal activities of the conference will take place on 27 and 28 September 2026 in the main conference hall of the Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, with the participation of professors, experts and specialists. The scientific programme will include sessions, keynote lectures and discussions designed to promote continuing medical education and advance the exchange of best practices in emergency and disaster medicine.

Following the main activities, specialised training workshops will be held from 29 September to 1 October 2026 at the faculty's Centre for Advanced Education, offering opportunities for practical training and exchange of experiences among participants. The conference proceedings will generate proposals for health policy documents related to disasters and health crises, which will be presented to decision-makers.
