Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa will undergo a medical with Arsenal on Thursday ahead of a transfer worth over £50 million to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal reached an agreement with Aston Villa for the English international on Wednesday following weeks of negotiations.

The centre-back has been granted permission to travel to north London. BBC Sport revealed last week that Arsenal had reopened talks with Villa over a deal for Konsa, though initially had failed to reach an understanding.

The Gunners appeared to have shifted their focus towards Jarell Quansah of Bayer Leverkusen before successfully refocusing on Konsa. The 28-year-old defender, who joined the Villans in July 2019, has made 286 appearances over the past seven years.

Konsa featured 48 times last season across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist, while Unai Emery's side won the Europa League and finished fourth in the Premier League to secure Champions League football for 2026-27. He has not played in any of Aston Villa's pre-season matches, including the 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup, after Emery gave him four weeks' rest following the World Cup.

Konsa played in all of England's matches during their World Cup campaign, where the Three Lions finished third.
