Jared Kushner, envoy of US President Donald Trump, met on Sunday with a Hamas delegation in the Egyptian city of El-Alamein in the presence of mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey. According to a diplomat, Kushner and Nikolai Mladenov, envoy of Trump's Peace Council to Gaza, met the same day in Egypt with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators to advance the plan presented by Washington on Gaza.
Egyptian President Abdelfatah al-Sisi received Kushner on Sunday in El-Alamein in the presence of Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati and the head of Egyptian intelligence services Hasan Rashad. According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the meeting between Sisi and Kushner addressed "the need for all parties to fulfil their obligations in accordance with the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, reached during the Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh in October 2025".
Hamas indicated that the delegation headed by Jalil al-Haya, leader of the movement, met with intelligence chief Rashad on Sunday to "discuss ways to advance implementation of the roadmap" in Gaza. A Palestinian official told the France Press Agency that the meetings focused on "developments in the negotiations and efforts to force Israel to accept the agreement which includes a 15-point roadmap".
Eight Arab and Islamic countries condemned on Sunday Israel's "rejection" of President Trump's plan for Gaza. The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan issued a joint statement warning that Israel's position "directly threatens to undermine the concentrated efforts made by Trump to end the war in Gaza". The statement emphasised the importance of "ensuring and forcing Israel's full compliance with the obligations and arrangements established in the comprehensive plan and its roadmap".
Hamas and Israel exchange accusations about violations of the ceasefire agreement that was concluded last October. According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, more than 1,050 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the truce, while Israel reports the deaths of five Israeli soldiers during the same period.
