Retirees from the state industries in Guayana have denounced receiving devalued and incomplete social benefits after dedicating more than 30 and 40 years of service. The state basic industries, which operate in Ciudad Guayana, constitute a state industrial conglomerate dedicated to the exploitation of iron, aluminium and mining resources in southern Venezuela.
Decades ago, these companies attracted professionals seeking a stable career and a dignified future in the industrial sector. The retirees demand that the benefits committed during their working years have not materialised in full, which generates discontent among those who expected guarantees after their decades of contribution to the sector.
