US President Donald Trump threatened on 17 August to bomb Oman if the Arab nation "gets in the way" of negotiations with Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz. The warning comes as parallel talks between Oman and Iran seek to reach an agreement over control of the strategically important maritime passage.

This is the second threat Trump has made against Oman for maintaining contact with Iran, despite the Arab nation remaining neutral in the conflict.
