Trade unions warned that Labour's policy on cutting zero-hours contracts risked falling short of the party's manifesto pledge on the issue. Union leaders sought reassurances from Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds as they raised concerns about pressure from business groups.
The TUC condemned what it described as "scaremongering" from business figures, warning that such pressure could render key legislation "meaningless." Union leaders were pressing the government to ensure its zero-hours contract policy delivered on its campaign commitments.
