Aeroméxico announced its intention to expand its European service with a new route connecting Mexico City to Milan-Malpensa International Airport starting in March 2027. The airline noted that the project is awaiting the corresponding government approvals.
According to a company statement, the service will be operated with 787 Dreamliner aircraft, described as modern and efficient wide-body equipment designed to cover long-haul routes.
Aeroméxico currently operates a route to Italy with flights from Mexico City to Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome-Fiumicino. The airline indicated that with approval of the new Milan route, it would add a total of seven destinations and 10 routes to Europe.
Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aeroméxico, noted that the connection to Milan would strengthen cultural, commercial and business ties between Mexico and Italy. He added that the airline would become the only Mexican carrier to directly connect Mexico City with two of Italy's main destinations.
