The Hampton Grocers, Inc., based in Montauk, New York, is recalling Lacnola Lactation Granola in 8-ounce packages due to possible contamination with Salmonella, a microorganism that can cause serious infections and in some cases fatal infections in children, frail or elderly persons, and other people with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella frequently present with fever, diarrhoea (which may be haemorrhagic), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

In exceptional circumstances, Salmonella infection can enter the bloodstream and produce more serious illnesses such as arterial infections (infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the company are continuing their investigations to determine the source of the problem.

Lacnola Lactation Granola was distributed nationwide through mail orders at thehamptongrocers.com and other online retailers such as Amazon between 21 October 2025 and 12 August 2026. The recalled product comes in pink stand-up pouches of 8 ounces with UPC code 850035324554. Batch codes and expiration dates appear on the back of the pouches in the upper left corner, printed in black ink.

The potential contamination was detected following notification from an ingredient supplier that a sample of one of its products tested positive for Salmonella. The affected product contains organic moringa powder, an ingredient also used in Lacnola Lactation Granola. No illnesses have been reported to date related to this product. Production of the product has been suspended.

Consumers who have purchased 8-ounce packages of "Lacnola Lactation Granola" are urged to dispose of the product and contact the place of purchase to obtain a full refund. Consumers with questions can contact the company at (201) 820-8789, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
