Thousands of secondary school students and their families expressed confusion following the failure of the University Coordination Office and the Ministry of Higher Education to close the coordination platform for the second phase of preference registration for public university and institute admissions.
Students expressed fear about the continued acceptance of preference registrations on the coordination website, despite the schedule setting 7 p.m. on Sunday as the closure time. Among their concerns is the possibility that preferences already registered on the platform could be modified.
The Ministry of Higher Education faced additional confusion with the independent coordination of private universities and the separate coordination of particular universities for the first time. Minister Abdel Aziz Qansua chaired a joint meeting of the private and particular universities council today, though confusion persisted over the establishment of minimum admission scores for private universities.
