Following a solid but often unfocused debut in 2023, Ahsoka season 2 has finally launched its marketing campaign with a standout trailer that promises higher stakes and a much larger scale when it arrives on Disney Plus in early next year.
As part of D23 2026 celebrations, Disney and Lucasfilm shared a first look at the long-in-development second season of the live-action series—set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens—on 15 August. They also unveiled a premiere date: 20 January 2027.
"Are you a Jedi... or not?", asks Anakin Skywalker, a prominent figure in the action-packed trailer, after appearing only briefly in season 1 in a more subtle role.
It is clear that Lucasfilm and prequel fans wanted to see more of Hayden Christensen as the Chosen One, and Dave Filoni, creator, director and writer of the series—now also president and chief creative officer of the studio—plans to deliver exactly that through flashbacks (Who is that Jedi with a new lightsaber design?) and Force ghost moments.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg, as the first look at Ahsoka season 2 also features massive space battles worthy of the big screen, Imperial villain Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) threatening the New Republic—which he refuses to acknowledge as anything more than Rebels—Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) bringing the fight to Dathomir, and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) trying to find a way to return to the main galaxy.
Meanwhile, fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll (Rory McCann) wants to uncover a lost power that could change everything. If you know, you know. Along with the first trailer, Disney and Lucasfilm also shared a striking first poster with eye-catching visual style.
