A jacket decorated with patches from the Artemis I and II missions, along with other NASA patches, hangs from the back of a chair on Thursday, 6 August 2026 inside the Rocco A. Petrone Launch Control Centre at NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida during a terminal countdown simulation for the Artemis III mission.
NASA's Earth Exploration Systems team conducted the terminal countdown simulation, which includes the final five hours of the launch countdown, including the terminal count—the final 10 minutes of the countdown.
Artemis III will execute a series of objectives in low Earth orbit designed to demonstrate critical systems necessary for future lunar landings, beginning with Artemis IV.
