Grupo Ollamani, headed by Emilio Azcárraga Jean, reported a net negative impact of approximately 813.1 million pesos as a result of operations related to the 2026 World Cup. The expenses and obligations were assumed to enable Estadio Banorte to host five matches of the tournament.
According to the company's financial report for the second quarter, FIFA operations generated a negative impact of 557.2 million pesos between April and June. As the World Cup extended into July, Ollamani estimated an additional impact of 255.9 million pesos for the third quarter, with both impacts combined totalling 813.1 million pesos.
The company identified several commitments related to hosting the tournament. These include the acquisition of tickets for box and balcony seat owners in order to comply with legal and commercial agreements, alterations and operation of the property to satisfy FIFA requirements, and expenses stemming from Mexico City serving as host city, absorbed through the HC2026 subsidiary.
Ollamani considered these costs as extraordinary and non-recurring, noting that they do not represent the usual performance of businesses such as Club América, PlayCity or Editorial Televisa. The company argued that part of the expense should be understood as a long-term investment, since the renovation of Estadio Banorte, financed with a 2,100 million peso credit that will begin to be repaid in 2027, aims to increase the value of the property and allow it to host major events after the World Cup.
Although the immediate economic balance of the World Cup was negative for Ollamani, the company projects that the stadium's renovation will generate revenues and increased value for the asset over the coming years.
