One Night a Year, starring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro, presents a world in which single people can have sexual relations only one night a year. For the rest of the time, such encounters are prohibited. The film examines this dystopia from a comic perspective through its two main characters.
According to the film's official synopsis, Owen has just ended a relationship and Allie is a committed romantic. Both apparently seek something deeper than a fleeting affair, and a connection immediately sparks between them. However, a series of misunderstandings and false leads complicate the events of that single night and keep them apart.
As Owen and Allie draw closer to and pull away from each other in the big city, they may discover that what they were looking for was closer than they imagined. Both must rush to make the most of the only night when it is permitted to meet intimately before it ends.
