Mexico's government released a "bot analysis" that publicly exposed more than 54 journalists, media outlets and opponents. The authorities insisted it was not a blacklist.

The journalists and media outlets named, along with press freedom advocacy organisations, warned that the damage was already done by the publication. They expressed concern about possible consequences of the disclosure.

The incident occurs in one of the world's most dangerous countries in which to practise journalism, according to analysts consulted about the impact of this event.
