American Jessica Gauff, ranked third in the world, eliminated Polish defending champion Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open by defeating her 7-5, 4-6 and 6-4 on Saturday. Gauff needed two hours and 47 minutes to seal the highly competitive match, managing to come back from a break of serve lost in the deciding set.
Gauff will face on Monday the winner of the match between Czech Sara Bejlekova and American Coco Gauff, ranked fourth in the world, in pursuit of her first Cincinnati title. Last week, Gauff reached the final in 2024.
The victory marked the 300th win in Gauff's professional career, who turned 32 years old. Her victory raised her record to 45 wins during the 2026 season, more than any other player on the circuit, including 29 wins in 35 hard court matches.
Gauff has won four Masters 1000 titles: Guadalajara in 2022, Montreal in 2023, Toronto in 2024 and Dubai in 2026. She has also won two titles during the current season: the Dubai Open and the Charleston tournament.
Swiatek, who was ranked first in the world, saw her winning streak interrupted after winning Toronto this month with her first title in 2026. With this defeat, Swiatek will lose 610 ranking points and fall to eighth place in the world.
