Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz completed a week of joint training at the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia, both preparing to return to the professional circuit. Rune has not competed since 18 October 2025, when he suffered an Achilles tendon injury in his left leg.
The Danish tennis player decided that the most prudent course was not to participate in the US Open as his first tournament upon return. According to Rune's statement on social media, he and his team determined not to compete in a Grand Slam on his comeback, postponing his presence in the New York tournament until next year.
Rune expressed his gratitude to Alcaraz and his team for the week of joint training in Murcia, noting that he is satisfied with his progress and level of play. The Dane reported that he will continue with his preparation in the coming tournaments before his return to professional competition.
