The earthquake recorded in Colombia on 10 August left approximately 300 dead, thousands injured and multiple collapsed structures. The emergency severely affected thousands of citizens who lost their homes, mainly in the departments of Chocó, the Coffee Axis and Valle del Cauca.

Grupo Argos and urban artist Nicky Jam created the solidarity initiative 'Adopt a Home' to finance repairs and construction of properties for affected families. On Friday 21 August, the alliance presented the first two residential prototypes to be implemented in the affected zones.

The designs were configured to guarantee resistance to seismic events and allow accelerated construction of approximately three weeks. The organisation indicated that the project is adapted to the culture of families in the coffee-growing region and that they will begin the rural reconstruction phase in municipalities of Caldas and south-western Antioquia in coordination with the National Government's Fondo Milagro and the Ministry of Housing.

The alliance confirmed it is collaborating with organisations such as Proantioquia, VivaAntioquia and the Governorship of Antioquia. The promoters indicated that they are advancing in the design of new typologies suited to the regions, climate and customs of the communities impacted in Chocó and Valle del Cauca.

The platform has enabled various contribution channels for citizens and the private sector. Contributions are received through the programme's official portal, where interested parties can make economic donations or join in as volunteers in construction work in the field.
